Apartment buildings, Pelletstown, Dublin 2001
The master plan for the 40 hectare site at Pelletstown calls for a variety of buildings and building types by different architectural practices. In the first phase of development, O'Neill Consulting has prepared plans for 108apartments in six five-story buildings arranged in a half crescent around the central park. The park is a central feature of the master plan prepared for the owners, Castlethorn Construction and Ballymore Homes, by O'Mahony Pike with support fromO'Neill Consulting. The six buildings face south over the park and the Royal Canal. There are four 2-bedroom apartments on a typical floor. The geometry of the crescent allowed a building form to be developed which gave each apartment a view of the park.At fifth floor level there are larger penthouse apartments. These will have panoramicviews in all directions, taking in the Tolka Park to the north and the Dublin Mountains to the south. In order to achieve the densities set out in the master plan all parking forthe residents of the crescent is planned underground with direct access by lift to the floors above.
